Charles Douglas Mullins passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2012, after bearing over two years of serious illnesses with exceptional grace. 
Born on May 16, 1955, to Norma Jean "Jeanie" and  Charles Alfred Mullins in Valparaiso, Ind., he was known best for his easy-going demeanor and never-failing friendship. 
Doug married and shared 28 wonderful years with his loving wife Janice Carol Jones Mullins. Theirs is a marriage bound by faith in God, infused with friendship, unwavering committment and a fierce loyalty. They moved through life as one, providing a remarkable example of unselfish love to everyone around them. Together they raised two devoted children, Dr. Sarah Catherine (Chase) Oliver and Christopher Douglas Mullins. 
Doug loved his family completely and unconditionally, had a remarkable appreciation of nature, and an abiding faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Doug was the best of friends to many. He had a knack for making friends for life in an instant because he only saw the best in everybody. 
In addition to his wife and children, Doug is survived by a brother, Gregory Crawford (Milly) Mullins; a sister, Leslie Jean (Michael) Camic; a brother-in-law, Michael Dean (Beth) Jones; a sister-in-law, Vicki Whiteley; his mother and father-in-law, Rosemary and Dean Jones; nine nieces and nephews, Jessica L. (Danny) Clay, Chelsea E. Whiteley, Michael L. Gregory, Matthew M. Mullins, Griffin D. Mullins, Nicholas M. Camic, Caitlin L. Camic, Lucas M. Jones, and Lindsey E. Jones; and a great-nephew, Carson D. Clay.  
He is also survived by five aunts and uncles; a host of cousins; and countless close relatives and friends.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanie and Charles Mullins; his maternal grandparents, Geneva and Jack Conn Crawford Sr.; and his paternal grandmother, Edna Mullins Bird. 
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 14, 2012 at 2 p.m. in Ottawa
Baptist Church. 
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals, Brodhead and beginning at noon on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Ottawa Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.
