Obituaries for Thursday, May 15, 2014

Glen Mays, 69 of Somerset, Ky. passed away on Tuesday May 13, 2014 at his residence. 
He was born on September 1, 1944 in Ashland, Ky., to the late Marvin Mays and Virgie Ashley.
Glen was a member of Rock Lick Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and Air Force Reserve, enjoyed camping and riding his motorcycle. 
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Mays and Virgie Ashley Estridge and his step-father, Elihu E. Estridge. 
He is survived by his wife, Faye Mays; two sons, Darrell Robert Mays and Gerald "Jerry" Allan (and Kristen) Mays of Michigan; two brothers, Kendall Mays and Rick Mays; four sisters, Patty Lawson,
Louise Braden, Frankie Martin and Linda; three grandchildren, Logan Mays, Clayton Mays and Landon Mays. He is also survived by close friends, Vance and Connie Hargis and his Rock Lick Church family. 
Visitation will be held on Friday May 16, 2014 after 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. 
Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 16, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Harris and Bro. Chuck Pollard officiating. 
Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 38 Honor Guard. 
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Rock Lick Baptist Church. 
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
