Obituaries for Friday, February 7, 2014

Beginning his mining career in eastern Kentucky as a teenager, he also worked in the western Kentucky and southeastern Ohio coal fields. Billy moved his family to southeastern Ohio in late 1968, where he worked for more than 20 years at Peabody Coal Company, as a chief electrical and maintenance foreman. In 1970, he bought a small farm in Morgan County, Ohio, where he began a “second job” as a famer for himself and others in the community.
Billy had a strong work ethic and commitment to family. A family man, he provided unconditionally and unceasingly for both his immediate and extended family. He often worked 8-10 hours in the mines followed by another 4-6 hours on the farm. Billy's love for the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, led him to Cambridge, Ohio in the mid 1980s, where he, Christine, family, and numerous friends spent hours camping, fishing, and boating. He and Christine moved to Jabez, Ky. (Pulaski County) in the early 1990s, where they enjoyed fishing on Lake Cumberland.
Billy's legacy is his love for family, friends, people in general, and most of all Jesus Christ. Billy tremendously enjoyed worshipping at Mount Eden Baptist Church (Russell County, Ky.) and Smith Grove Baptist Church (Pulaski County, Ky.). Kindhearted, he generously gave to those in need and loved the companionship of family and friends. He strived to teach his children, grandchildren, and others his values, setting an example to help others sacrificially, and teaching the value of family along with the importance of pulling together as a family in crisis. While his life sometimes was hard, his life was principled and one that benefited all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Christine; their son, William K. (and Saadia) Daniels of Nancy, Ky.; their six daughters, Vivian Sue (and Bill) Hickman of New Lexington, Ohio, Linda A. (and Kerry) Locke, of New Lexington, Ohio, Glenda Locke, of Roseville, Ohio, Sandra K. (and Charles) Clark, of Roseville, Ohio, Candy R. (and Jeffery) Waite, of Marietta, Ohio, and Billie D. (and Arthur) Hardin, of Georgetown, Ky.; two sisters, Mary E. Mullins and Judith G. Shell; 14 grandchildren, Kent Daniels, Christy Daniels, Dan Hickman, Jon Locke, Adam Locke, David Locke, Rob Locke, April Lawson, Michelle Bowling, Ben Locke, Billie Jane Senig, Charlie Clark, Scott Waite and Deidra Lagasse; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of special friends.
