Somerset — Larry Adington

Larry Delano Adington, 65, of Somerset, Ky., passed away Monday, February 24, 2014.

He was born in Waynesburg, Kentucky on February 12, 1949, son of Velma Shelton Adington and the late Vernon Adington. He was vice president of sales for 36 years with D.C. Trimble Construction and a member of Double Springs Baptist Church. He was a member of Sievers Lodge no. 491, a Ky. Colonel, Ky. Admiral, Pulaski County Colonel, Pulaski County Count, a lifetime member of NRA and League of KY. Sportsman, spent numerous years with Lake Cumberland Friends of NRA and was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

He is survived by his mother, Velma Adington of Waynesburg, Ky.; one brother, James (and Miriam) Adington of Stanford, Ky.; one sister, Judy (and Larry) Fields of Richmond, Ky.; four nieces, Darla Colegrove, Sharla Lake, Benita Land and Shannon Adington; one nephew, Joshua Adington; three great-nephews, Jared Colegrove, Alexander Lake and Isaac Land; and one great-niece, Kaytlin Lake.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Friday, February 28, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Dunn officiating.

Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 18.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with a masonic service to be held at 7 p.m..

The family requests donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky., 42503.

Norine McKinney

Norine Phelps McKinney, 89, wife of the late Charles Grant McKinney, died Mon. Feb. 24, 2014 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1924 in Science Hill, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillie Godby Phelps. She was a retired sales associate for K-Mart and attended Church of the Savior in Lexington.

She is survived by two daughters, Jackie Rodman, Lexington, Ky., and Janice (and Sidney) Griffin, Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Jim (and Tima) McKinney, Virginia Beach, Va., and Charles (and Darlene) McKinney, Jr., Irvine, Ky; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Rogers.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. with Pastor Steve Pearson officiating.

Burial will follow in Science Hill Cemetery in Science Hill, Ky.

Charles Christopher Sears

Mr. Charles Christopher Sears, 50, son of Charles O. Sears and the late June Hyden Sears  was born on December 19, 1963 in Somerset, Ky., and departed this life on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Sears, and one granddaughter, Kadie Bunch.

Charles was united in marriage on February 17, 2006 to his beloved wife, Barbara Sears; she survives. Charles is also survived by five daughters, Jackie (and Abe) Gregory of McCreary County, Ky., Chantel (and Ernest "Jr.") Meece of Somerset, Mariah Sears of Somerset, Brittany Bell of Somerset, Melinda Bunch of Russell Springs, Ky.; six grandchildren, Cole Gregory, Cori Gregory, Braxton Patterson, C.J. Bunch, Kloe Bunch and Kylie Bunch; one brother; Darren Sears of Nancy, Ky.; one sister, Cheryl (and William) Claxton of Somerset; and the following nieces and nephews: Hayley Murphy, Audy Murphy, Mikey Sears and Noah Sears.

Charles worked as a truck driver and loved music and fishing. He was of the Baptist faith and was a very kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m.  on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Dallous Sears officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Goodwater Cemetery.

The family of Mr. Charles Sears will receive friends on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 after 11 a.m. until time for services at Pulaski Funeral Home.
