Wayne Pierce

Wayne C. Pierce, age 75 of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center. 
He was born on May 10, 1937 in Pulaski County, Ky. to the late Clifford and Uma Ard Pierce. Mr. Pierce served in the United States Army and served 25 years in the Kentucky National Guard. He had formerly worked for the Department of Transportation as a state engineer. Mr. Pierce was a member of Potter's Place Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.  
He is survived by his wife, Edna Fox Pierce; a son, Tony Wayne (and Lisa) Pierce of Somerset, Ky.; two grandchildren, John Wayne Johnson and Melissa Hope (and Jayson) Henderson; a brother, Troy (and Linda) Pierce of Nancy, Ky.; two sisters, Janet Jasper of Somerset, Ky. and Linda (and Ronald) Johnson of Somerset, Ky.; a special son and daughter-in-law, Martha Pierce and Robert Johnson; and a special friend, Larry Fisher.  
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Wayne Pierce; a daughter, Tambra Gay Johnson; and a sister, Barbara Flynn. 
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17, 2013 after 5 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, Ky. 
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Clyde Strunk officiating.  
Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. 
American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
