June Girdler

June Avera Girdler, age 80, of Somerset, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013.
June was born in Somerset on Jan. 19, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Elaine Colyer Avera. June was married on Nov. 10, 1951 to the late Major D. Sidwell. After his death in Nov. 1954, she was united in marriage on Aug. 5, 1961 to the late Ernie Daniels. After the death of her second husband she later married Glen Girdler in 1989, and he passed away in 2008. 
June is survived by six sons, Alan (Sunda) Sidwell, Bobby (Lana) Sidwell, Russell Daniels, Lee (Heidi) Daniels, Sam (Kristy) Daniels, and Joe Daniels, all of Somerset; and one sister, Janet (Sonny) Claunch of Somerset. 
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Scott and Makayla Sidwell, Ashley, Niki, Courtney, Bethany and Josh Daniels, Drake Stucy, and Jordan, Rachel, Elijah, Cainan, Chloe and Seth Daniels, all of Somerset; and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one special cousin, Richard Curtis. 
Preceding her in death was her 13-year-old grandson, Shane Sidwell, who passed away in 1986.
June was a charter member of Alder’s Gate Methodist Church in Lexington, Ky. She attended Freedom Worship Center in Somerset for many years. June also played the piano for several churches: Alder’s Gate Methodist in Lexington, Friendship Methodist Church in Shopville, Ky., and Saline Church of God on Hacker Road in Somerset. She was a graduate of Somerset High School Class of 1951 and she attended Asbury College. She was a switch board operator for Somerset City Hospital and Humana Hospital. June was a historian, she loved to repel, and she enjoyed playing the piano. She had a very special love for animals and supported the efforts of the local humane society. There are many other activities she enjoyed, like truck or tractor pulls, and especially anything her sons were involved in. 
A celebration honoring the life of June Avera Girdler will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking and Crematory with Brother Ron Cathers officiating. 
The family will receive friends on Thursday after 6 p.m. at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking and Crematory. 
Burial will be at the Renfro Cemetery.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Somerset-Pulaski County Humane Society, P.O. Box 448, Somerset, Ky., 42502.
