Somerset — Wayburn Mayfield

Wayburn Mayfield, 78, of Somerset, Ky. passed away on Friday March 28, 2014 at his home.

He was born on November 16, 1935 in the Slate Branch Community to Faustine Powell Mayfield and the late Coleman Clay Mayfield.

Wayburn was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired supervisor for Food Fair grocery stores. He was a avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, music, family time and was a former member of the Somerset Trio.

He is preceded in death by his father, Coleman Clay Mayfield.

He is survived by his mother, Faustine Mayfield of Somerset, Ky. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nila Lynn Tompkins Mayfield, whom he married 60 years ago on March 3, 1954 in Rossville, Ga. They were blessed with three children, Tim Mayfield, Sherry Smith (and Darrell) and Kevin Mayfield (and Gloria); grandchildren Tracey Lackey (and Wes), Michelle Davis (and Eric), Amber Cox, Autumn Lawson (and Brandon), Megan Davis (and Shaun), Tiffany Dobbs (and Ronnie Dishman), Alan Dobbs (and Kim Nevels), Matthew Brumley, Scott Brumley and Raven Mayfield; great-grandchildren Josh Dishman, Madison Davis, Dean Davis, Jacob Centers, Shaylee Dishman, Sara Davis, Simon Lackey, Kayleigh Cox, Elijah Cox, Jackson Lawson, Macy Dishman, Abri Dobbs, Colton Dishman and Hunter Dishman. Also, he is survived by his one sister, Nelva Daulton (and Howard), and two brothers, Ralph Mayfield (and Margaret) and Mike Mayfield.

Visitation will be held on Monday March 31, 2014 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday March 31, 2014 at 3 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. David Muse officiating.

Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 38 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Wayburn Mayfield Memorial Fund C/O Southern Oaks Funeral Home, 2110 West Hwy. 914, Somerset, Ky., 42503
