Nell Kennedy

Nell Cooper Kennedy, 91, of Somerset, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Neighborhood in Somerset.  

She was born in Monticello, Ky., on July 29, 1922 to the late James Marion Cooper and Mary Edna Burnett Cooper. Nell was married on March 19, 1944 to Harry Russell Kennedy, Sr., whom preceded her in death.

Nell was a member of the First Christian Church for over 60 years. She served as secretary for the Kentucky Department of Highways. She was involved in the Moonbeam Homemaker's Club and was a secretary for Adam's Sunday School class of the First Christian Church.  She loved to travel and participate in Sr. friends and Jr. Women's Clubs.  She loved her family and friends. She also loved Sharon Reynolds and the staff at The Neighborhood.

Nell is survived by sons, Harry Russell Kennedy, MD (and Janice) and Robert "Bob" Kennedy (and Wanda); eight grandchildren, Kathryn Kennedy, Elizabeth Howard (and Brad), Vanessa Kennedy, Rhonda Fallis (and Doug), Genny Tesh (and Scott), Jonathan R. Kennedy, Laura Kennedy and Sarah K Kennedy Price (and Jacob) and 13 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding Nell in death were brothers, Glenn and Tom Cooper and sisters Betty Hays, Jean Colbert, Helen Cooper and Dora Mae Cooper.

Visitation for Nell Kennedy will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Christian Church and also on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

A service celebrating the life of Nell Kennedy will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church with Bros. C. E. Jacobs and Dustin Phelps officiating.

Interment will be at the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Ky.

Somerset Undertaking Company and Crematory is in charge of all arrangements.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Memorial Fund of the First Christian Church.
