Somerset — Donald Floyd

Donald Smith Floyd, age 83, of Nancy, Ky. passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Donald was born on June 17, 1930 to the late Beecher Smith and Emma Cecil (Sowder) Floyd in Burnetta, Ky. He was a member of Burnetta Baptist Church, a retired Lab Technician for US Gypsum Inc., and he operated Sputter Creek Pay Lake in Nancy, Ky. for the last 13 years. Donald loved driving his carts on trails through his land with his white Pyrenees “Bo,” his dog. His favorite outing was going to Cades Cove in the Smokey Mountains.

Mr. Floyd is survived by his wife, Susie Hickman Floyd, who he married on Oct. 24, 1992 in Nancy, Ky.; seven sons, Lonnie Kirk Floyd of Somerset, Dana Paul Floyd of Las Vegas, Nev., Rick Landreth of Windsor, Ky., Gary (and Crystal) Landreth of Monticello, Ky., David (and Vana) Landreth of Nashville, Tenn., Craig (and Jawana) Landreth of Corbin, Ky., Shane (and Venita) Landreth of Nashville, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Daryl Floyd and Barry Floyd.

Visitation will be on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Drew Mahan officiating and Craig Landreth assisting.

Burial will be in Burnetta Cemetery.

Pallbears for Mr. Donald Floyd will be Jerry Prone, Omar Prone, Zack Landreth, Noah Landreth, Eli Landreth, and John Johnson.

The family request expressions of sympathy be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Program.
