Dorothy Agnes (Hays) Combs, born March 24, 1936, passed away on Aug. 31, 2013.
Her husband, Marcus Combs, preceded her in death.
She was saved and baptized during a summer revival at Noble, Ky. in 1953. She was currently a member of East Somerset Baptist Church. Dorothy was an elementary school teacher. She taught in eastern Kentucky, western Kentucky and Ohio, where she retired. She was a graduate of Western Kentucky State College (now WKU) and earned her Master's degree while teaching in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
She is survived by six siblings, Virginia Marshall (Bob) of Xenia, Ohio; Hildred Hudson (Travis) of Dayton, Ohio; James Gribble Hays of Dayton, Ohio; George Lewis Hays (Judy) of Dayton, Ohio; Ruth Smith (Kirby) of Dayton, Ohio; and Adna Clemons (EB) of Somerset, Ky.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Chalmer Hays and Tottie Lee Noble Hays; and sister-in-law, Kathern (Campbell) Hays.
She enjoyed listening to Christian music. She especially enjoyed helping others. She was totally dedicated to caring for her two dogs, Misty and Lila, and working with her flowers. She also liked sewing and knitting.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Dr. Darvie Fenison officiating.
Interment will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be E.B. Clemons, James Gribble Hays, George Lewis Hays, Kirby Smith and Jason Clemons.

William T. Jermeay, 66, of Bronston, Ky., passed away Friday Aug. 30, 2013 at his home.

William J. Smith, 84, of Waynesburg, Ky., passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Monroe, Mich.
He was born in Anderson, Ind., on Aug. 2, 1929, son of the late Clellie and Faye Smith. He was retired from AT&T. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Flossie Godbey Smith; two sons, Mitchell Smith of College Station, Texas, and William Smith Jr. of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one daughter, Jacqueline Haddix of Monroe, Mich.; one brother, Herbert Rowsey of Conn.; six grandchildren, Donovan Haddix, Sean Haddix, Cory Smith,
Jennifer Smith, Kristin Smith and Jason Whitfield; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bob Rowsey; and one sister, Bernadine Myers.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Zandell Hasty officiating.
Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Crab Orchard, Ky.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. today at the church.

Amie Denise Thompson-Benge, age 29 of Eubank, Ky., passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2013 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ky.
Amie was born on Nov. 11, 1983 in Lexington, Ky., a daughter of Charlie R. Thompson and Elizabeth McKinney Ann (Larry) Benge. She attended Brodhead Baptist Church and enjoyed toys, television and music.
Amie is survived by her parents, Charlie R. Thompson of Eubank, Ky., and Elizabeth Ann McKinney (Larry) Benge of Eubank, Ky.; a sister, Bridgett Benge of Junction City, Ky.; maternal grandmother, Gladys Pryse; paternal grandparents, Charles A. and Myrtle Thompson; and several nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Amie was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, William T. Pryse; maternal grandmother, Avis Benge; maternal grandfather, Willard McKinney; and a cousin, Tyler Coburn.
Funeral services for Amie Denise Thompson-Benge will be conducted on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bro. Ralph Baker, Bro. Kevin Bullock and Bro. Justin Padgett officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ottawa Cemetery.
Visitation for Amie Denise Thompson-Benge will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.
