Somerset — Mary Ann Massey, 77, wife of Beldy Lee Massey, of Longwood, Fla., and formerly of Somerset, Ky. was called home to heaven on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. She was at peace and surrounded by her devoted family.

Mary Ann was born in Somerset, Ky. on Jan. 9, l935, to Cecil T. Williams and May Berry Williams Rogers. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized in the Christian Church.

Her passions included spending time with her family and many friends including University of Kentucky alumni and her Kappa Delta sisters in both Lexington and Orlando. She loved the beaches of Florida, the hills of Kentucky, and the Wildcats.

She was raised in Somerset, attended the University of Kentucky, and while married to Jack Wright (deceased) of Mayfield, Ky. had three children, Sandra Wright Carnley (Rodney) of Valrico, Fla., J. Warren Wright II (Laura Bowen) of Clear Lake City, Texas, and John Williams Wright (deceased) of Gatlinburg, Tenn.

"Mimi" has three loving grandchildren, Kara Alayne Carnley, Ryan Owen Carnley, and Brittany Wright.

Mary Ann married her high school sweetheart, Beldy, in 1978, and they lived "the good life" in Florida. She loved teaching kindergarten for many years before retiring to care for her mother, May B. Rogers, former newspaper publisher of the Commonwealth Journal.

Mary Ann was a gracious, true Southern lady and her smile, laughter and zest for life will be greatly missed.  

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Somerset Undertaking on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at 10 a.m.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with burial following the service at the Somerset Cemetery.

In fond memory of Mary Ann Massey, flowers will be appreciated or a love offering can be donated to build the Prayer Garden at Bell Shoals Baptist Academy, 2102 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon, Fla., 33511, c\o Sandra Carnley.
