In his younger years, he loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. Other hobbies included playing harmonica, playing rook and gardening. He was an avid "CB" radio operator whose nickname "Hummingbird" was well-known around amateur radio circles.
Earnest was a member of Sievers Masonic Lodge at Nancy for over 50 years. He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church in Nancy. His mentor in faith for many years was long-time friend Missionary Bernard Mitchell. In later years, He was a supporter of the ministry of Billy Graham and loved to read books by Rev. Graham and watch his televised messages.
He was a devoted husband and loving father and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and community. He and his wife, Thelma, were examples of the “greatest generation.”
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends and family are invited to call after 5 p.m. on Friday, June 14. There will be a masonic service held by Sievers Lodge no. 491 on Friday evening at 7 p.m. His funeral service will be Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Brother Reggie Tipton officiating.
Burial will immediately follow in the White Oak Cemetery at Nancy, Ky.
The family request expressions of sympathy be made to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland and/or Senior Friends at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
