Somerset — Eugene Bartleson Drake

Mr. Eugene “Gene” Bartleson Drake 86, passed away in Henderson, Ky. on April 17th after an extended illness.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Estelle Barnett Drake, daughter Debby Wilson (and Cass) of Henderson, Ky., and son Dr. David Drake (and Malissa) of Charlottesville, Va. He has seven grandchildren, Kara Geoghegan (and Geoff), Amy Anderson (and Nick), Will Wilson (and Michele), Will Drake (and Catherine), Lauren Drake, Emarie Drake, Ben Drake, and seven great-granddaughters.

Mr. Drake graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1952 with a degree in Civil Engineering, and worked for the State Department of Highways for 38 years. He retired as the Assistant Director of the Division of Design. He served as President of the Kentucky Association of Transportation Engineers. His work was recognized by an award from the Kentucky Rehabilitation Association for his barrier free designs for handicap access. In retirement he served on the Kentucky Retirement System Board for eight years.

Gene was a devout former member of Highland Christian Church in Frankfort, Ky., serving as Elder, Chairman of the Board, and teacher of the Joy class. He was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Frankfort including serving as President. After relocating to Henderson, he joined the First Christian Church.

Gene was an avid golfer, tennis player, lover of bridge, and lover of life. Affectionately known in his family as “PaPa”, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held in Frankfort, Ky. at Highland Christian Church on June 14 at 2 p.m.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy include your local Hospice Chapter.

Janie Fritz

Mary Jane "Janie" Leininger Fritz, 72, of Cumru Township, Pa., passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Reading Hospital, in PA.

She was the wife of William Fritz.  Born in Cumru Township, Pa., she was daughter of the late Harvey A. and Mabel Daub Leininger.

Mary Jane was a member of Christ Yocom Lutheran Church in Grill, Pa. She was born and raised and lived her entire life on the family farm in Cumru Township. She loved working in her garden and with her flowers and feeding the birds and animals but most of all, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband are children, Cynthia, wife of Bruce Pierce, of Nancy, Ky., Rebecca, wife of Edward Cooper, of Ten Sleep, Wyo., Kathy, wife of Ronnie Graddy, of Rutledge, Ala., Sandra, wife of David Miller, of Mohnton, Pa.,; Peggy, wife of Craig Foster, of Hamburg, Pa., Sheri, wife of

Michael Kaufman, of Mohnton, Pa., Kurt Fritz, husband of Wendy Douglass, of Leola, Pa., and step-sons Keith, husband of Nancy Fritz, of Mohnton, Pa., and William, husband of Donna Fritz, of Flying Hills, Pa.

Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three siblings: Margaret Tironi of Mechanicville, NY, Ray Leininger, of Grill, Pa., and Earl Leininger, of Mohnton, Pa.

She was predeceased by an infant son, Steven and four siblings, Harvey, Charles, and Virginia "Ginny" Leininger, and Henry Mountz.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Giles and Yeckley Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., 21 Chestnut St., Mohnton, Pa.,, with Pastor Harry Goos officiating.

A viewing was held on Wednesday, April 19, 2014 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment is in Christ Union Cemetery, Grill, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Christ Yocom Church, 840 Philadelphia Ave., Reading, Pa., 19607.

Charles Robinson

Charles Donald "Don" Robinson, 77, husband of Barbara Creekmore Robinson, passed away on Monday, April 21 in Ormond Beach, Fla.  

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at the Woodford Community Christian Church, in Versailles.  Visitation will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Woodford Community Christian Church

Missions Committee or to Florida Hospital Hospice Care.
