Somerset — Mike Donaldson

Mike Donaldson, 56, of Nineveh, Ind., passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014.  

Arrangements are pending and will be announced later by Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Billie Harmon

Billie Carol Harmon, age 80, of Burnside, Ky., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 after 5 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Sprouse officiating.

Burial will be in the Pine Knot Cemetery.

Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Laura Holbrook

Laura “Susie” Glass Holbrook, 47, wife of Sam Holbrook, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014.  

Born in Somerset, Ky., she was the daughter of Joyce Deprato Glass and the late Thomas Sherwood (Shed) Glass. Susie was a member of Southland Christian Church and a former nurse in the neonatal unit at University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital.   

Survivors other than her husband and her mother include one son, Adam Samuel Holbrook; one daughter, Amy Katherine Holbrook; three sisters, Johanna Glass (Tom) Pearce, Atlanta, Ga., Cindy Glass (Bob) Warming, Port Matilda, Pa., and Amy Glass (Mike) Reynolds, Somerset, Ky.; one brother, Dr. Thomas Andrew (Mindy) Glass, Louisville, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.  

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, with a memorial service Thursday at 1 p.m. at Southland Christian Church in Lexington.

Flonnia Roberds

Flonnia F. Roberds, age 85, of Somerset, Ky. and Dayton, Ohio, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.

She was born on April 6, 1928 in Evarts, Ky. to the late L.P. Fuson and Lillie Goins Fuson. She was a loving and devoted mother to her two sons, Michael Roberds and Andrew Roberds. A retired local businesswoman, she was also a professional judge and adjudicated at various artistic venues throughout the United States in the field of ceramics. She was a member of the Eastern Star, a member of the Oleika Shriners of Lexington, Ky., a lifetime-active member of the Mid-West Ceramic Association of Dayton, Ohio, and she was a supporter of the Shriners Hospital System.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael and Andrew; one brother-in-law, Fred, and wife Betty Roberds; two sisters-in-law, Sara Nell Fuson and Edith Fuson; loving K-9 companions, Savana and Sasha Roberds; along with numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Linda Pinion; and several extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James Roberds; her parents; three sisters, Dora E. Fuson, Sarah Mossie Kirkendall and Frances E. Johnson; and five brothers, Joe C., Chester E., Arthur E., Lee Roy and Estill Fuson.

The family extends sincere appreciation of her special caregivers, Melanie and Kim.

Visitation for Flonnia Roberds will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at Mill Springs National Cemetery. Dr. Greg Ryan will officiate the graveside service.

The family request expressions of sympathy be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Flonnia F. Roberds.
