Michael Stone


Michael Lee Stone, age 60, of Somerset, Ky. passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.   
Born July 28, 1952, he was the son of Russell Stone, who preceded him in death, and Dolores Phelps Ard (Norman), who survives. 
His maternal grandparents were Claude and Zula Phelps. 
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ralph Phelps of Ferguson; a half-brother, Jeff Duncan; and
two cousins, Jimmy and Randy Ard. 
He is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Joel (Jody) Andra Montgomery Stone. 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Norma Jean Montgomery; brothers-in-law, Joseph Allen (Mardi) Montgomery and Eddy Frank Montgomery; two nephews, Ryan Bradley (Lauren) Montgomery and Aidan Race Montgomery; and two nieces, Anne Leshea Montgomery and Devin Michelle Montgomery. 
He is also survived by his former sister-in-law, Laurel Montgomery; and niece Alexandra Cummins and son, Connor.
In addition, Mike is survived by a special aunt, Joanne Phelps Cox of Paris, Tenn.; and three cousins, Gloria Phelps of Somerset, Traci Cox of Memphis, Tenn. and Donna Banks of Okemos, Mich.  
He was retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department for Employment Services. He was a devoted Christian and member of the Science Hill First Baptist Church. For many years he and his wife enjoyed extensive travels throughout the United States. Besides his family, church friends and travels, Mike enjoyed special friendships with his rook partners. 
The family appreciates the outstanding services provided by nurses, aides and therapists of LifeLine Home Health, Sunrise Rehabilitation, Somerwoods West Wing, Hospice of Lake Cumberland and Helping Hands.
A special thanks to his physician and friend of over 30 years, Dr. Jospeh Weigel for quality care.  
Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 18, 2013 at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
