Janice Beatrice Simpson, 72, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on May 31, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Simpson was born on September, 10, 1940 in Liberty, Ky. to the late Asa Ray and Florence Derringer Patton. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Janice loved to play bingo, watching WLJC church programs, collecting porcelain dolls, and loved the outdoors.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Simpson, who she married on July 2, 1973 in Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons, Asa J. (and Nancy) of Somerset, Ky., and Richard Ray Simpson of Somerset, Ky.; two daughters; Melissa Patton (and Ginger Washington) of Huntsville, Ala., and Jennifer Lynn (and Phillip) Hayes of Somerset, Ky.; three sisters; Marlene Simpson of Cincinnati, Ohio., Joyce Ware of Tennessee Ridge, Ky., and Ruby Simpson of Liberty, Ky.; and four grandchildren, Jason Hall, Asa (AJ) Simpson, Destiny Simpson and Ashland Hayes.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray Patton Jr., Travis William Patton,  Denny Patton, Marvin Patton, and a sister, Barbara Ann Patton.
Visitation will be today after 5 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Clyde Strunk officiating.
