Luke Harness

Luke Leonard Harness, age 80, of Ferguson, Ky. passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at the Eastern Kentucky V.A. Care Home in Hazard, Ky. 
Mr. Harness was born on Jan. 7, 1932 in Huntsville, Tenn. to the late Freeman and Winnie Harness.
Mr. Harness was a member of Denham Street Baptist Church and a member of the Mt. Gilead Masonic Lodge #255. He enjoyed attending church, his grandchildren and working in his metal machine shop. He also attainted his private pilot license.  
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Roger Dean (Linda) Harness of Ferguson and Larry Harness of Somerset; one sister, Peggy Trimble; grandchildren, Bryan Dean (Chasity) Harness, Cyndi Armes, Brandi (Jeremy) Lyons, Tony Harness, and Stacie (Shannon) Vaught; and great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Vaught, Taylor Vaught, Brody Harness, Ally Harness, August Armes, Madison Armes, Kylie Hines, Orion Lyons, Olivia Lyons, and Abbie Lyons. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cheryl Harness; son, Lonnie Harness; brother, E.T. Harness; and sister, Ruth Walker. 
Visitation for Mr. Harness will be  Wednesday Sept. 5, 2012 at 5 p.m. followed by Masonic services conducted by the Mt. Gilead Masonic Lodge #255 at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. with Bro. Bruce Conley, Bro. Jesse McCoy, and Bro. David Muse officiating. 
Interment will follow in Mill Springs National Cemetery, Nancy, Ky. Full military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard. 
All services will be held in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home
In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy can be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.
