Brooks R. Barleston, age 30,of the Oak Hill community, entered into rest on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on May 4, 1982 in Danville, Ky. to Pastor James and Wanda Miller Barleston. Mr. Barleston served as a police officer with the Somerset Police Department. He was an active member of South Maple Street First Baptist Church in Somerset. He enjoyed being involved in church activities and spending time with the children in the church. He was an avid basketball enthusiast and enjoyed playing golf. He enjoyed hanging out with his colleagues and police officer buddies.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Pastor James and Wanda Miller Barleston; daughter, Aniyah Buster of Lexington, Ky.; brother, Bro. James S. (Barbara) Barleston, Jr. of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister, Latoya (Shelton) Ellis of Rock Hill, S.C.; grandmother, Oline Miller of Stanford, Ky.; aunts ,Danette Miller, Beverly Miller, Oliva Coffman, Minnie (Gene) Walker, Betty (Charles) Jones, and Sarah (Elijah) Adams; uncles, Oliver Jr. (Barbara) Miller, Homer L. Barleston, Jr., and George Miller; nieces, Raven, Zoe, Peyton, and La Christian; nephews, Eden, Christian, and Anthony; and a special friend, Becca.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Oliver Miller Sr., and Homer and Gertrude Barleston. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Esther Miller and his uncle, Gary Miller.
Visitation for Mr. Barleston will be Friday, March 29, 2013 at 5 p.m. and after 8 a.m. on Saturday, at the Denham Street Baptist Church in Somerset.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11 a.m., also at the Denham Street Baptist Church. Pastor Moses Radford and Dr. Phillip A. Yates will officiate the service.
Interment will follow at the Southern Oaks Cemetery in Somerset, Ky.
Police Honors will be conducted by the Somerset Police Honor Guard.
