Somerset — Rose Russell

Jesus called Rose Russell, 89, to Heaven Friday evening, Sept. 27, 2013 in the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

She was the daughter of Edward and Mabel Sagiom Gallagher. She was born July 28, 1924 in Greensburg, Pa. She married William Julian Russell in Somerset, Ky. on Jan. 25, 1946.

She is survived by a son, Mitchell Paul Russell of Cincinnati; daughter, Linda Russell Barker of Lexington; and son, Thomas William Russell of Somerset; six grandchildren, Mitchell Paul Russell, Jr., Joy Linn Barker Cheek, Lesley Erin Russell Carroll, Morgan Leigh Russell Hughes, Shelby Linn Russell, and William Seth Russell; and great-grandchildren, Megan Nicole Russell, Jacob Aaron Russell, Emma Rose Hughes, Blake Elliott Carroll and Julian Isaiah Carroll.

Rose retired from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital and was a faithful long time member of East Somerset Baptist Church. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, and she was an amazing Christian example. Her life was devoted to her Lord, her church and her family.

Visitation is at East Somerset Baptist Church Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the funeral service following at 2 p.m.

Burial will immediately follow in the Sears Cemetery on East Ky. 80. Officiants will be Brother Darvie Fenison and Brother Danny Pace.

Matt Secen Sr.

Matt Secen Sr., age 89 of Somerset, Ky. and formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at his home.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1924 in Cary, Bell County, Ky. to the late Vincent and Dora Belle Patterson Secen. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting grass and traveling. He proudly served his country in

the Navy during World War II. He was of the Church of God faith.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Anna Marie Lefevers Secen, whom he married on Oct. 28, 1950 in Arjay, Ky.; three sons, Arnold V. (Barabara) Secen, Ronnie (Debbie) Secen and Danny R. (Loretta) Secen, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; and five daughters, Maureen Hughes of Somerset, Ky., Deborah S. Secen of Somerset, Ky., Sandra S. (Kim) Gadberry of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sharon D. Secen of Cincinnati, Ohio and Alisia J. (Roger) Reese of Utah.

Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Clell Secen and Matt Secen Jr.; four brothers, Caleb Smallwood, Lloyd Smallwood, Elbert Secen and George Secen; and one sister, Martha Smallwood.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Dawson officiating.

Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Lt. Glen Skiver

Lt. Glen E. Skiver, 68, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Science Hill, Ky. passed away surrounded by his loving wife and family on Sept. 27, 2013.

Glen had an act for public service, serving as an Indianapolis Firefighter, serving his country in the United States Navy, and by serving as a minister.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; sons, Ed and Cindy Skiver of Indianapolis and Jeff and Gail Skiver of Westfield; grandsons, Jacob and Caleb Skiver of Indianapolis; brothers, Rick and Rita Skiver of Indianapolis, Kenneth (Boo) and Sherri Roosa of Martinsville, and Harold (Buster) and Judy Roosa of Indianapolis; sister, Sandra (Dusty) Twigg of Indianapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Skiver and Geneva Roosa, and brother Homer Smith, Jr., all of Indianapolis.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 at Crown Hill Funeral Home Gothic Chapel with calling one hour prior to service.

Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery Heroes of Public Safety Section.
