Donald Bray
Donald R. Bray, 50, of Eubank, Ky., passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Baptist Health in Lexington.
He was born in Somerset, Ky., on November 27, 1962, son of Truman and Oma Lee Huddleston Hargis.  He was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Julie "Tootie" Smith Bray of Eubank; his parents; one son, Josh Bray of Eubank and one brother, Daniel (and Vicki) Bray of Nancy.  
A special thanks to Anita Bray for her care and patience.
A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Brent Piatt officiating.
Visitation will be after 12 noon Saturday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Florence Cooper
Florence G. Cooper, 88, of Somerset, Ky., passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was born in Lynchburg, Va., on June 16, 1925, daughter of the late Daniel G. and Elgie Mills Golf. She was a cosmetologist for JC Penney.  She was a member of Union Church of Christ and the Science Hill Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband, Larry E. Cooper of Somerset; one son, Garry Cooper of Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Linda Blevins of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Ruth Ellis of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, David Golf of Concord, Va.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She  was beloved by her 28 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Susan Shoop; five brothers and four sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Ponder officiating.
Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery. 
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Shillard Dunbar
Shillard "Jack" Dunbar, 82, of Nancy, Ky., passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Oak Tree Baptist Hospital in Corbin, Ky.
He was born on January 7, 1931 in Jabez, Ky to the late Leslie & Theola Johnson Dunbar. He was married to the late Addielen Popplewell Dunbar.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Wiegand, Seattle, Wash.; three sons, Mark Dunbar, Greenfield, Ind.,  Brian Dunbar Ashford, N.C., and David (and Elena) Dunbar, Clermont, Fla.; two step-children, Dwayne Johnson, Pa., andDebra Goodin, Columbia, Ky.; 10 grandchildren and many neices & nephews; one brother, Jetha (Dollie) Dunbar, Nancy, Ky.; and two sisters: Rena Elllen Winchester, Nancy, Ky., and Darlene Foley, Knightstown, Ind.
A devoted father & husband, Mr. Dunbar also served our country in the U.S. Army and Indiana National Guard. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of dedicated service and was known by many for his brilliant mind and ability to "fix" or "build" anything. He was always ready to help a neighbor or serve his community. He served on the Pulaski Water Board. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and wore his masonic ring with pride. He will be sadly missed by family and as host of friends.
Mr. Dunbar was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Leland Dunbar.
Funeral service for Shillard "Jack" dunbar will be 12 noon CDT, Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richie Curtis officiating. 
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. CDT Friday at the funeral home.
Interment in the White Oak Cemetery at Nancy, Ky.

Gary Jones
Gary Jones, 69, of Junction City, Ky., passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at his residence. 
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Ila Jones
   Ila Smith Jones, 86, was born in Wayne County May 28, 1927 the daughter of the late Dewey and Flora Jane Carter Smith. She departed this life, Tuesday evening at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was united in marriage with Cleo Jones, who passed away February 6, 1965. To this union two daughters survive: Janette Louise (and her husband Curtis Gilliland Jr.) and Julia Helen (and husband Larry Childress), all of Somerset.  
Her daughter, Rosa Lee Jones, precedes her in death.
Also surviving is her brother, Kenneth (and wife Betty Smith); sister-in-law Lillian Smith; grandchildren Dewayne Childress, Kyle Childress and Nicole McNeill; great-grandchildren Tori, Sarah, Kati and Kali, Erin, Zane and Austin.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Reva Self, Vela Stephenson, Mavel Denney, Melvin and Niles Smith.
Mrs. Jones had accepted Christ as her Lord and was a member of the Sandusky Chapel Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Harvey Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.  
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
 
Susan Nicholas
Susan Nicholas, 42, of Science Hill, Ky., passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at her residence. 
Arrangements are pending and will be announced later by Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Hester Raney
Mrs. Hester E. Blevins Raney, daughter of the late Martin Sebastian and Bessie Haga Blevins, was born at Bee Lick, Ky., on August 24, 1933 and she departed this life on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, having attained the age of 80 years.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Cressel Raney; he survives. Other survivors include two sons, Richard Raney, Sr. (and his wife Kathy) of Waldron, Ind., and Stanley Raney (and his wife Tina) of Somerset, Ky.; five daughters, Lillian Raney of Eubank, Ky., Laura Thompson (and her husband Eddie) of Fortville, Ind., Janet Caldwell (and her husband Chapp) of Somerset, Ky., Sharon Gilliam and Shelia Raney both of Eubank, Ky.; one brother, Elmer Blevins (and his wife Nellie); two sisters, Mildred Smith (and her husband Vola), and Wilma Harris; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Other than her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Clara Raney; one brother, Victor Blevins; and two sisters, Edna Hawk and Stella Dardeen.
Hester was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Barnesburg Baptist Church, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves a host of relatives, friends and church family who mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home at 11 a.m.  Friday, October 25, 2013 with Bro. Harold Harris and Bro. Tony Hall officiating.  
Burial will follow in the Raney–Inabnitt Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Hester Raney will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday October 24, 2013 until time for services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.

Callis Thomas
Callis A. Thomas, beloved husband of Christine (nee Garner) Thomas for 57 years of marriage; loving father of Mark A. Thomas and Kathy Thomas; adoring grandfather of Dale Thomas Dawson and Sydney Grace Brown. Mr. Thomas passed away very peacefully at home, October 18, 2013 at the age of 77.
He was also survived by Richard (and Linda) Thomas, Steven Thomas, Freida (and Bobby) Gosser-Bernard, Carol Ann (and Eugene) Wilson; two special sisters-in-law, Opal Thomas and Edna Thomas; many nieces and nephews; and also his very special stepmother, Helen Frankum Thomas. 
He is preceded in death by his mother Enola Brockman Thomas; father Oral Thomas; and two brothers, Dock Carson Thomas and Olan Dale Thomas. 
Mr. Thomas was a member of New Haven Missionary Baptist Church and a former Trustee with the Church. He was also a longstanding member of Bradley's Pleasure Church in Nancy, Ky. He joined the Marines in 1956, and served 4 years. In 1959, he began his career at Procter and Gamble.  He retired from the company after over 40 years in the early 2000s. In 1971, he purchased his first tractor & trailer for his brother. This began the future empire of Thomas Trucking that has supplied hundreds of jobs for many families throughout the years.  
He leaves behind many special friends; racers; co-workers and dedicated employees. 
A visitation was held at the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church, 2417 Indian Mound Avenue, Norwood, Ohio 45212 on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m.  Pastor Mike Raines will officiate the service.  Members of the Thomas family will serve as pallbearers.  
Entombment will be in the Bradley's Pleasure Cemetery.  
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church or Bradley's Pleasure Cemetery.
