Obituaries for Saturday, November 30

Paula Embree
Paula Marie Darnell Embree, 51, of Louisville, Ky., passed away peacefully at her home under Hosparus (hospice) of Louisville care. 
Paula is survived by her husband, James R. Embree, whom she married on July 7, 1984 in Burnside, Ky. 
She was born Jan. 23, 1962 in Somerset, Ky. to her parents, Paul M. Darnell and Naomi New Darnell. She was preceded in death by both parents and her father-in-law, James Thomas (Jim) Embree. 
Paula is survived by four children, Clark (and Michelle) of Hazard, Ky., Lola (and Luke) Davidson of Lexington, Ky., Peter Embree and Christopher Embree of Louisville, Ky. One brother and three sisters also survive Paula, William (and Barbara Sue) Darnell of Cincinnati, Ohio, Linda Darnell of Somerset, Ky., Barbara Jane (and Sam) Napier of Tiltonsville, Ohio, and Ruth Darnell (and Joan Norvell) of Fredericksburg, Va. Paula is also survived by her mother-in-law, Martha Embree, an uncle, Hugh New, an aunt, Freda New, and many other relatives. 
Paula will also be remembered by church members and many special friends. She was a member of the Portland Avenue Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Burnside High School and Kentucky Wesleyan College. She worked at Bank of America Merchant Services and then for Jefferson County Public Schools as a Clerk at Gheens for over 5 years. She was a fan of NASCAR racing, college basketball, and she loved reading.
Memorial gifts may be given to Portland Christian School and/or Hosparus of Louisville. 
Visitation for Paula Darnell Embree will be held at the Portland Avenue Church of Christ in Louisville on Sunday, Dec. 1, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 5 p.m. 
Another visitation for Burnside is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 2, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. with the Celebration of Life service beginning at 1 p.m. at Burnside United Methodist Church.
