Paula Embree
Paula Marie Darnell Embree, 51, of Louisville, Ky., passed away peacefully at her home under Hosparus (hospice) of Louisville care. 
Paula is survived by her husband, James R. Embree, whom she married on July 7, 1984 in Burnside, Ky. 
She was born Jan. 23, 1962 in Somerset, Ky. to her parents, Paul M. Darnell and Naomi New Darnell. She was preceded in death by both parents and her father-in-law, James Thomas (Jim) Embree. 
Paula is survived by four children, Clark (and Michelle) of Hazard, Ky., Lola (and Luke) Davidson of Lexington, Ky., Peter Embree and Christopher Embree of Louisville, Ky. One brother and three sisters also survive Paula, William (and Barbara Sue) Darnell of Cincinnati, Ohio, Linda Darnell of Somerset, Ky., Barbara Jane (and Sam) Napier of Tiltonsville, Ohio, and Ruth Darnell (and Joan Norvell) of Fredericksburg, Va. Paula is also survived by her mother-in-law, Martha Embree, an uncle, Hugh New, an aunt, Freda New, and many other relatives. 
Paula will also be remembered by church members and many special friends. She was a member of the Portland Avenue Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Burnside High School and Kentucky Wesleyan College. She worked at Bank of America Merchant Services and then for Jefferson County Public Schools as a Clerk at Gheens for over 5 years. She was a fan of NASCAR racing, college basketball, and she loved reading.
Memorial gifts may be given to Portland Christian School and/or Hosparus of Louisville. 
Visitation for Paula Darnell Embree will be held at the Portland Avenue Church of Christ in Louisville on Sunday, Dec. 1, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 5 p.m. 
Another visitation for Burnside is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 2, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. with the Celebration of Life service beginning at 1 p.m. at Burnside United Methodist Church.
Cremation was performed by Kentucky Cremation Society of Kentucky. 
Burial will be at the Miller Cemetery in Greenwood, McCreary County, Ky.
 
David Rader
David L. Rader, 68, of the Oak Hill community passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. 
Visitation for Mr. Rader will be Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks with Pastor Mike Grimes and Bro. Wayne Hardin officiating. 
Interment will follow in the Southern Oaks Cemetery. 
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Rader.
 
Dowana Spears
Dowana Fay Spears, 50 of Somerset, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. 
Visitation for Mrs. Spears will be Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. with Bro. Harold Harris officiating.

Ben Wesley
Mr. Ben Wesley, son of the late John Paul and Stella Wesley, was born at Bethelridge, Ky., on March 18, 1922 and he departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 in Somerset, Ky., having attained the age of 91 years.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Gloria Lavonne Osborne Wesley on May 23, 1944 in Eubank, Ky., and she preceded him in death.  
Survivors include two sons, Dale Thomas Wesley (and his wife, Vicki Gumm Wesley) of Shelbyville, Ky., and Ken Wesley (and his wife Connie Isaacs) of Nancy, Ky.; five grandchildren, Nelson C. (and Betsy Jo) Wesley, Joy Y. (and Gonzalo) Lopez, Jessica L. (and Buddy) Berry, Sarah L. (and Roger) Thomas, and Clayton T. (and Caresse) Wesley; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Montie Wesley of Louisville, Ky., and Ruby Osborne of Harrodsburg, Ky.
Other than his parents and wife, Ben was also preceded in death by four brothers, Dan, Leon, Rolan, and Rex Wesley.
Ben was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of the Somerset First Baptist Church. When he was active, he was a Stylist and Cosmetician with his wife in their beauty shop for many years. He was also a farmer and loved woodworking. He was a kind person who will greatly missed by all who knew him and he leaves a host of relatives, friends and church family who mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Ben Wesley will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at the chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Dr. Greg Ryan officiating. 
Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Military honors will be conducted for Mr. Wesley by the American Legion Post 38 Honor Guard.
The family of Mr. Ben Wesley will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 until time for services. 
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of arrangements for Mr. Ben Wesley.
 
Eddie Whitis
Eddie Gene Whitis, 77, of Somerset passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. 
Visitation for Mr. Whitis will be Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. 
Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Bro. David Dykes officiating. 
Interment will follow in the Pine Thicket Cemetery.
