Somerset — Marina Campbell

Marina R. Campbell Age 22 of Somerset, Ky. passed away Wednesday September 11, 2013 at her home.

She was born on December 11, 1990 in Somerset, Ky. to Donald and Sharron Taylor Price of Science Hill, Ky.

Marina was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed crafting, drawing, painting and writing poetry. She also enjoyed playing soccer in her school years and loved her dog Courage.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, James Taylor; a cousin, Thomas Burris; and grandparents, Junior and Ruby Price.

She is survived by her parents; her husband, William Campbell; one brother, Donald (and Amber) Price of Tateville, Ky.; one sister, Tabitha (and Michael) Vanhook of Ferguson, Ky.; maternal grandmother, Lois Taylor of Ferguson, Ky.; and grandfather-in-law Floyd Campbell and mother-in-law Rachel Kirkpatrick. She is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Visitation will be held today after 5 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Taylor and Bro. Richard Gossett officiating.

Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Greg Farmer

Gregory John "Greg" Farmer Sr., 50, of Somerset, Ky., passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center.

He was born in Somerset, Ky., on August 15, 1963, son of Ralph and Jean Hunt Farmer. He was a Gospel Illusionist and Evangelist. He was a member of High Street Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Poynter Farmer of Somerset; one son, Gregory John "G.J." (and Hillary Ann Thompson) Farmer Jr. of Florence, SC; one daughter, Laura Sue Farmer (and Seth Aaron) Tilley; his parents, Ralph and Jean Farmer; one brother, Rocky (and Sheila) Farmer, all of Somerset; one grandchild, Gregory John "Jack" Farmer III; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at East Somerset Baptist Church with Bro's. Ed Amundson and Darvie Fenison officiating and David Morris, board member of Greg Farmer Evangelistic Ministries, will speak about Greg's ministry.

Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at East Somerset Baptist Church.

Judith Linkes

Judith Ann Linkes, 67, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends

Visitation for Judy Linkes will be on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at Science Hill Christian

Church with Bro. Charles Lucas officiating.  

Burial will be at Science Hill Cemetery.

Rachel Phelps

Rachel D. Phelps, 88, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center of Lake Cumberland.

Mrs. Phelps was born on July 6, 1925 in Burnside, Ky., to the late Jess and Nellie Jones Loveless. She was a homemaker. Loved by all that knew her, she was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and friend. Her smile lit up the room. She was an active member of Church of the Living God until the time of her death. She was a faithful servant to the Lord all of her life, and as her reward, she sits at the feet of Him now, no longer suffering, no longer in pain.  Although her family has lost their matriarch, Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.  

She is survived by five sons, Paul Phelps of Science Hill, Ky., Wendell (and Jeannie) Phelps of Somerset, Ky., David (and Sandra) Phelps of Somerset, Ky., Emery Jr. (and Virginia) Phelps of Science Hill, Ky., Gilbert (and Gail) Lovins of Cincinnati, Ohio; four daughters; Doris (and Charles) Goff of Somerset, Ky.,

Geneva Gee of Science Hill, Ky., Shirley (and Marvin) Bradford of Hamilton, Ohio, Elsie Wolford of Louisville, Ky.; 24 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many great great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Emery William Phelps; two sons, Kenneth Phelps and Everett Phelps;three daughters, Virginia Phelps, Ruby Phelps, and Georgie Daulton; six brothers, Albert Loveless, Howard Loveless, George Loveless, Amos Loveless, Chester Loveless,

and Floyd Loveless; a sister, Lelia Godby; two grandchildren, Ronnie Young, Bernie Young; and a great-great-grandchild, Kinley Lyons.

Visitation for Mrs. Phelps was Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Ridner and Bro. Steve Bunch officiating.

Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family request expressions of sympathy to be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Gene Turner

Gene Turner, 74, of Somerset, Ky. passed away Wednesday September 11, 2013 at his home.

He was born on January 23, 1939 in Somerset, Ky. to the late Luther Marion and Ollie May Burton Turner.

He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and retired from the City of Somerset. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Minnie Turner, Edith Turner and Edna Turner; one brother, Marion Luther Turner; and three sons, Michael Turner, Terry Turner and Jody Turner.

He is survived by two daughters, Sherry Bradley of Cave City, Ga. and Sheila Turner of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sons, Rodney Turner and Jerry Turner both of Indianapolis, Ind.; three brothers, Frank Turner of Monticello, Ky., Jessie Turner and Walter Turner both of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three sisters, Helen Brown of Elizabethtown, Ky., Linda Decker and Betty Dugger, both of Somerset, Ky. He is also survived by several grandkids, step-grandkids and great-grandkids.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 after 5 p.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 15, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Harris officiating.

Burial will be in the Ringgold Cemetery.

Ruth Warren, 69, of Science Hill, Ky., passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center.
