Jackson “Jack” Denney Stigall, 88 passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on July 26, 1925 in Somerset, Ky. to the late Dumont H. and Willie Shadoan Stigall. In his
youth, Jack enjoyed playing football for Somerset High School and he later served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
On July 13, 1947 he was united in marriage to Norma Heath in Rossville, Ga. Jack spent the better part of his life providing for his family as a civil engineer for the Kentucky Dept. of Transportation, where he retired. He was a member of the Pisgah Presbyterian Church for many years. Jack was also a former member of the Masonic order. In his private time he enjoyed watching UK football and basketball, working around his house and farm, fishing, and taking trips to Florida in the winter.
Jack is survived by his wife; two children, Brenda Sue Smiley (Alex) of Nolensville, Tenn. and William Jackson Stigall (Julie) of Burnside, Ky.; three grandchildren, Adria Smiley Bateman (Chris) of Manchester, England, Byron Denney of Longmont, Colo., and Jaclyne Jean Stigall of Somerset, Ky.; and a great-grandchild, Soren Albert Bateman.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ralph Hardin Stigall, Joe Lewis Stigall, and William Ray Stigall.
Visitation for “Jack” Stigall will be Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company, as well as on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Pisgah Presbyterian Church with a service celebrating the life of Jackson “Jack” Stigall at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rusty Butler officiating.
Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #38.
Somerset Undertaking Co. and Crematory is in charge of all arrangements.
