Marie Francis Ping, age 95 of Somerset, departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at the Somerwoods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Ping was born on May 17, 1917 in McCreary County, Ky. to the late Minot Dickman Hughes and Nellie Meece Hughes. She was a homemaker who enjoyed attending church, singing, gardening, and her family.
Mrs. Ping married Edward Franklin Ping on Feb. 18, 1933 in Somerset, Ky. and he preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2002.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne (and Betty) Ping of Somerset and Marvin (and Sharon) Ping of Somerset; two daughters, Willena (and Bro. Herman) Hamilton of Somerset and Elmeta (and Jim) Alexander of Somerset; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Linville (and Babe) Hughes of Somerset; and Faye Jackson of Newark, Ohio.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Howard Ping; a granddaughter, Teresa Ping; five brothers, Frank, Hugh, Richard, Clemon, and Charles; and six sisters, Edna Hughes, Alva Lunsford, Rena Lewis, Nellie Phelps, Ruth Wilson, and Bonnie Phelps.
Visitation for Mrs. Ping will be Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Hatfield officiating.
Burial will be in the Clay Hill Cemetery. 
Pallbearers for Mrs. Ping will be Rick Ping, Tony Ping, Steve Hamilton, Dan Hamilton, Gene Alexander, and Mark Ping.
