—

Auda Mae Jones, 85 of Somerset, Ky., passed to her heavenly home on Feb. 18, 2013 at Somerwoods Rehab Center.
Auda Mae was born in Caryville, Tenn., on Jan. 26, 1928. She was the second child born to Kelly and Nancy Agnes Jones. She married Rufus E. Jones in Rossville, Ga., on July 15, 1944 to a union of 68-and-a-half years. To this marriage were born three children: Rufus II, Sheila Adams, and Tommy (and Barbara) Jones. She was a proud and loving wife and mother.
In addition to her children being the pride of her life, she enjoyed the role of grandmother to Jennifer (and Jeff) Pierce and Thomas Jones II. As she told many, "There's only one thing better than being a grandmother and that is to be a great-grandmother." Jake Pierce, Jensen Pierce, Bristol Jones and Blakley Garland brought delight during their visits. She created memories that will last forever. Auda Mae and Rufus are best known as managers of the "old" 7 Gables Hotel and Restaraunt in "old" Burnside, the "new" 7 Gables Restaraunt, and finally of Somerset Lodge. She had to take early retirement due to health issues.
She was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church. The members of her Sunday School class were loving and supportive during her years of illness and recovery from the numerous falls. Betty Neely and her weekly cards were especially dear to her heart.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Arlen Jones, Clarence Jones, and Herman Jones; and firstborn son, Rufus.
In addition to her immediate family she is survived by brothers Kelly Jones of Knoxville, Tenn., and Thurman (and Stella) Jones of Denver, Colo.; sister Virginia Ingraham of Salt Lake City, Utah; and sister-in-law Cloa Jones of Oneida, Tenn.
There are numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
Her visitation will be on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a celebration of life service following at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
