Somerset — Frank Burton

Frank Allen Burton, 81, of Somerset, Ky., passed away, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on June 28, 1932 in Pulaski Co., Kentucky, son of the late George and Sis Burton. He lived at the same address since 1957. He was a retired business man and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Velma Norene Evans Burton; two sons, Douglas Allen (and Jennifer) Burton of Eubank, and Doyle Fray Burton of Somerset; one daughter, Julia Ann Burton of Somerset; one brother, Albert Burton; two sisters, Gladys Bray and Melba Nichols; three grandchildren,

Jessica (and Patrick) Butcher, Lucas (and Katie) Burton, Jacob (and Jamie) Burton; and great-grandchildren, Kobe, Kaelyn and Kyndal Butcher, Elise and Noah Burton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Aaron Burton and Youless Burton.

Visitation for Mr. Frank Allen Burton will be after 5 p.m., Monday March 17, 2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Monday March 17, 2014 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Patrick Butcher and Bro. Slade Moore officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family has requested expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Bethel Baptist Church building fund, or the Gideons International.

Gladys Conn

Gladys Conn, 96, of Somerset, Ky., passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Jean Waddle Care Center.

Arrangements are pending and will be announced later by Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Doris Dobson

Doris Ann Dobson, 71, of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Friday march 14, 2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

She was born on December 22, 1942 in Somerset, Ky., to the late Lena Ellen Patterson.

She is preceded in death by her mother and her father, James Woolsey and one grandchild.

She was of the Pentecostal faith and a former caregiver for Stewart Home School in Frankfort, Ky.

She is survived by one son, Charles (and Kathryn) Collins of Somerset, Ky., and two daughters, Penny (and David Young) Dane of Stanford, Ky., and Tamela Stigall of Somerset, Ky.; five brothers, George (and Gracie) Hollen of Murray, Ky., Charles (and Janice) Hollen of Murray, Ky., Larry (and Deidra) York of Benton, Ky., Matthew (and Barbara) York of Benton, Ky., and Billy (and Connie) Hamilton of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters, Wanda (and Jay) Hayden of Louisville, Ky., and Sandra (and Gilbert) Lynn of Somerset, Ky.; also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at a later date by the family.

Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Deborah Dunn

Deborah Lynn Singleton Dunn, 54, of Nancy, departed this life on Friday, March 14, 2014, at her residence.

Deborah was born on February 12, 1960, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Thomas Edgar and Nancy Ann Witt Singleton. Deborah worked for the Department for Children and Family Services as a Case Management Specialist. She was a member of the Mill Springs Fellowship Church, in Nancy. Deborah loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren, and being with her pets. She loved to crochet.  

She is survived by her mother, Nancy Ward, of Reading, Ohio;  her sons, Thomas (and Kelly) Allen, of Nancy, and Gilbert Jones, of Bronston; her daughters, Kristie (and David) Jones-Coffey, of Bronston, Lisa Allen, of Nancy, Jodi (and Steve) Hedger, of Covington, and Amber (and Ray) Burns, of Williamsburg, Ohio; her brothers, Walter (and Sherry) Singleton, of Englewood, Ohio, and Robert (and Sondra) Singleton, of Somerset; her sisters, Tammy (and Jeff) Chamberlain, of Lockland, Ohio, Pauletta (and Carl) Ockert, of Somerset, and Melissa (and David) Hartman, of Reading, Ohio; and her grandchildren, Kristen Hedger, Taylor Stanton, Kelsey Stanton, Hailee Wallace, Dallas Hedger, Aaron Allen, Lauren Allen, Khloe Jones, Jeffrey Brewer, Emilee Brewer, Christopher Brewer, Shyanne Burns and Kaleb Johnston.

Deborah's father precedes her in death.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 17, 2014, at 10 a.m., at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m.

Bro. Mark Rogers will officiate the funeral service.  

Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.  

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Pulaski County Animal Shelter or to the Bethany House, in Somerset.

Emma Mae Stephens

Emma Mae Stephens, 57 of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014 at her residence.

Larry Vanhook

Larry Wayne Vanhook, 67, of Eubank, Kentucky passed away Friday, March 14,

2014 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born on March 14, 1967 in Eubank, Ky., son of the late Vola E. and Doris Benge Vanhook. He was a logger.

He is survived by his daughter, Annalisa VanHook (and James Yoshii) of Oakland, Calif..; three siblings, Doris Gene Vanhook Correll, Lois Vanhook Sharpe, and Deborah Vanhook; sister-in-law, Janie Vanhook; and former spouse, Caroline Singleton Lugus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Eddie Vanhook.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Robins officiating.

Burial will be in White Lily Cemetery.

Visitation for Mr. Larry Wayne Vanhook will be after 5 p.m. Monday, March 17,2014 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
