Somerset — Glenna Renner

Glenna Faye Renner, 69, of Somerset, left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in her Heavenly home on March 17, 2014, after a short illness.

Glenna Faye Cromer was born at home in Rockcastle County to Ed and Roberta Cromer on December 23, 1945 and went to Pulaski County High School.  She married Robert Gooch of Somerset, who preceded her in death.  She would later marry Larry Renner, of Mount Vernon, who also preceded her in death.

Glenna was also preceded in passing by her father, and a brother, Donnie Ray Cromer.

Glenna is survived by her beloved mother, Roberta Cromer. Holding special memories of their mother near to their hearts forever will be her children, Gina Gaye Haynes, of Lexington, Michael Robert Gooch, of Winchester, and Robin Gail (and Bruce) Orwin, of Somerset. "Nana", as Glenna was known, will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Zachary Joe Dick, Jordan Robert Dick, Kaitlin Jo Dick, Jasmine Faith (and Jonathan) Harrell and William Atticus Orwin. Also left with wonderful memories of their Nana are great-grandchildren Ava Noelle Jolie Dick and Jace Riley Dick. Completing her family circle are surviving siblings, Marvin (and Joyce) Cromer, Belva Goff and Barbara (and Carter) Mink, as well as dozens of nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members who Glenna loved dearly.

The family will miss her wise counsel and advice as well as at family gatherings that made lifetime memories of fun, much laughter, good food and sharing of one another's lives.

Glenna, a homemaker, was a former employee of the Palm Beach Company of Somerset, and also worked as a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. She loved working in her yard and with her flowers.  She was well known for her legendary fried chicken and country ham. Glenna was admired for her ability to show that "family" is not simply for those who share your bloodline, but those who share their love with you.  She was remarkable in ways unmet by most, extending the branches of her family tree to include anyone who needed love, a home or just a friend.

Visitation will be Thursday morning, March 20, 2014 at 9 a.m. for family and 10 p.m. for the general public at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. that afternoon at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Glenna's son, Mike Gooch, presenting the eulogy.

Burial will be in the McKinney Cemetery.

The family of Glenna Renner wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Brewer, the nurses and Palliative Care Team from Baptist Health Systems.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Glenna Faye Renner.
