Edison Black

Somerset — Edison Black, 74, of Somerset, Ky., passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Somerset Nursing & Rehab.

He was born on June 27, 1939 in Vinnie, Ky., to the late Roscoe and Pearl Doss Black. Mr. Black was a member of Southside Church of God of Prophecy. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage, woodworking, carpentry, collecting guns, watching westerns, boating, fishing, farming, and he was a master electrician, and plumber.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Black, who he married on August 10, 2000 in Gatlinburg, Tenn.; three sons, Brian K. (and Amanda) Black of Louisville, Ky.,, Jeff S. (and Crystal) Black of Mansfield, Ohio, and Byron (and Tina) Blevins of Berea, Ky.; two daughters, Gwen (and Joe) Williams of Cave City, Ky., Tammy (and Donnie) Godby of Somerset, Ky.; and 11 grandchildren, Nicole Williams, Matthew Williams, Whitney Browning, Tyler Blevins, Tanner Baker, Blake Turner, Natalie Black, Baylee Black, Brooklynn Black, Leila Black, and Joshua Black.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Annette Dykes Black who passed away on February 19, 1999; six brothers; Jim Brotherton, Fred Brotherton, Bob Brotherton, Bud Brotherton, Andy Brotherton, and Elza Brotherton; and a sister, Elizabeth Barker.

Visitation for Edison Black will be on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 5 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Hale and Bro. Richard Ramsey officiating.

Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers for Mr. Black will be; Brian K. Black, Jeff S. Black, Byron Blevins, Donnie Whitis, Matthew Williams, Joe Williams, Donnie Godby, and Tyler Blevins.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Mr. Edison Black.
