Somerset — Linda Davis

Linda L. Davis, 68, of the Nancy Community, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Arrangements are pending at this time and will be announced by Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Linda L. Davis.

Edward Meece

Edward Othnel Meece, 86, of Somerset, Ky., passed away on December 7, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born in Somerset, Ky., on May 3, 1927 to the late Ester Meece and Mary Ann Hargis Meece. He was a retired auto worker from General Motors Corporation in Ohio, a farmer, and a Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Colo Baptist church. His biggest hobby was fishing. He was a man of great pride and integrity. He was a wonderful husband, great father, and exceptional grandfather. He was greatly loved by all who knew him. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Lois Burchfield Meece, whom he married on December 31st, 1981; a daughter, Kay Watson Meece; five brothers Vennis, James, Ray, Wayne, and Donald Meece; and four sisters Pauline and Carline Mounce, Deloris Morrell, and Edith Barnett.

He is survived by a sister, Wanda Whitt from Texas; seven children, Margie (and Kenneth) Thompson, of Ky.; Debra (and Mark) Duncan, of Calif., Wendell Meece, Earnest (and Connie) Watson, both of Ohio, Esther Watson, Rex Watson, and Jimmy (and Sheila) Watson, all of Ky.; 10 grandchildren, Camie (and Mike) Meece, of Ky., Wayne (and Poppy) Meece, of Ga., Chuck (and Amanda) Hargis, of Ky., Matt (and Jennie) Tiemeyer, of Ohio, Carol (and Bob) Hicks, of Ky., Angie (and Dale) Chaney, of Ky., Justin Watson, of Ky., Adam Duncan, of Calif., Jerrod (and Shelbi) Watson, of Ky., and Ashley Meece, of Ohio; 22 great grandchildren, Cassie (and Harley) Dalton, Jessie Meece, Bailey Meece, Eddie Decker, Abbie Decker, Kaylyn Chaney, Alesha Meece, Autumn Decker, Matthew Meece, Destiny Mounce, Curtis Chaney, Isaiah Hargis, Lance Mounce, Christian Hargis, Ana Meece, Adessa Meece, Rique Meece, Abigail Hargis, Paisley Watson all from Ky.; Miles  and Trevor Tiemeyer from Ohio; and one great-great-grandchild, Anslee Dalton.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral services will be on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 11 a.m.  n the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. David Harmon & Bro. Kenneth Dalton officiating.

Burial will be in Wesley's Chapel Cemetery.

American Legion Post 38 will conduct military honors.

The family request expressions of sympathy to be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Edward Othnel Meece.

  • Viola Nichols

    Viola Keith Nicholas was born Sept. 5, 1921 to the late William and Alice Jones Keith and she departed this life to her eternal home on April 7, 2014, having attained the age of 92 years.
    She was a devoted wife to the late Wesley Nicholas for 50 years. She was a faithful member at Grave Hill Baptist Church where she taught the Ladies Sunday School class for many years. She retired from the Pulaski County Board of Education. After retirement she served as a foster grandparent at Oakwood Training Facility for special needs children. She also volunteered at the Burnside Elementary preschool program, giving her time, talents and love to the 3 and 4 year old children whom she adored.
    Viola is survived by two daughters, Diana (and Austin) Alton, and Tana (and Tom) Chesney; one son, Rex Nicholas; and three brothers, Robert (and Barbara) Keith, Danny (and Ann) Keith, and David (and Ellen) Keith.  
    She was also blessed with many grandchildren and all were special to her.
    Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Nicholas and Gale Nicholas; two grandsons, Ricky Alton and Michael Nicholas; a granddaughter, Karen Alton Cogdill; and the following siblings: Alicie Super, Emerine Neeley, Mattie Keith, Maggie Godsey, Bertha Duncan, Clara Helton, Otis Keith, Clora Hardwick, Vergie Keith, Grover Keith, Mertie Yeskie, Lowell Keith, Joyce Sellers, Bill Keith, and Jim Keith; and the following step-siblings: Murphy Owens, Geneva Hill, Louise Fritts, and Reva Jones.
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at the chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Darry Hatfield and Bro. Doyle Worley officiating.
    Burial will follow in the Grave Hill Cemetery.
    The family of Mrs. Viola Keith Nicholas will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to The Grave Hill Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 85, Tateville, Ky. 42558, or Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky. 42503.
    Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Viola Keith Nicholas.
