Stella Harrison

Somerset — Stella Faye Harrison, 89, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab.

Stella was born on August 2, 1924 in Somerset, Ky., to the late Lafayette and Sally Bryant Neeley.  She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. She loved to quilt, make friends, spending time with her family, her church, and her Special Sunday School class.

She is survived by one son, Jerry (and Stella) Harrison; one daughter, Janet (and Danny) Whitaker; three grandchildren, Stephanie (and Arlin) Moore, Scott Whitaker, and Craig (and Tricia) Whitaker; seven great-grandchildren, A.J. Moore, Jake Moore, Samantha Turner, Kaitlyn Whitaker, Ava Whitaker, Cole Whitaker, and Clay Whitaker; two great-great-grandchildren, Alea and Alexis; one brother-in-law, Henry Leese; one sister-in-law; Odessa Neeley; and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.   

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Harrison; three brothers, Curtis Neeley, Claude Neeley, and Arthur Neeley; and one sister, Lois Leese.  

Visitation will be today at 5 p.m. in the Memory Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

She will also be in state Monday, August 19 from 10 a.m. until time for services at 11 a.m., at Oak Hill Baptist Church, with Reverend Gary Phelps and Dr. Harold Brown officiating.  

Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family requests expressions of sympathy to be made to the Gideon Bible Fund or Oak Hill Building Fund.
