James Tarter

Somerset —  

James William "Roho" Tarter, 77, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Ky. 
He was born on September 1, 1935 in Nancy, Ky., to the late Hillard and Ina Wesley Tarter. Mr. Tarter was of the Baptist faith. He formerly worked as an electrician for Pike Electric in Hazard, Ky. Mr. Tarter loved hunting, fishing, camping and the outdoors.  
He is survived by seven sons, Jack (and Elizabeth) Tarter of Somerset, Ky., Mike Tarter of Somerset, Ky., Danny (and Tiffany) Tarter of Pennsylvania, Homer (and Sandy) Stacy of London, Ky., Robert Paul (and Vicki) Stacy of Nicholasville, Ky., Bert Stacy of Hazard, Ky., and Matt Stacy of Hazard, Ky.; four daughters, Phyllis (and Jeff) Kidd of Somerset, Ky., Tammy (and Morris) Dick of Somerset, Ky., Judy Combs of Combs, Ky., and Jami Tarter of Hazard, Ky.; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Tarter of Somerset, Ky.; 27 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother, Coy (and Louise) Tarter of Ohio; and two sisters, Wilma (and Earl) Hensley of Fla., and Luretha Goforth. 
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Tarter, whom he married in March of 1983 in Hazard, Ky.; a son, Jerry Tarter; and two brothers, Vertrees and Verthel Tarter.  
Visitation will be Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 12-2 p.m. with his Celebration of Life service to follow at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Ky. 80, Somerset, Kentucky. Brother Bill Dawson will officiate.  
The family request expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky., 42503. 
Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for James W. "Roho" Tarter.
