Merita Reva Marcum, age 83, of Somerset passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 at the Highlands. 
Mrs. Marcum was born in Nancy, Ky. to the late Brent and Ada Trimble Tarter on April 8, 1929. She was a member of the Naomi Nazarene Church where she was treasurer for 42 years. Mrs. Marcum enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She was also a member of Homemakers.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Raymond Lee (Chrystal) Marcum, Norman Charles (Sue) Marcum, and Marty Dewayne (Kathy) Marcum; brothers, Bill Tarter of Texas, Amos Tarter of Dayton, Lowell Tarter of Nicholasville, and Garnett Tarter of Nancy; grandchildren, Jason Marcum, Amy Withers, Brooklyn Marcum, and Josiah Marcum; and great-grandchild, Andrew Withers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Marcum; brothers, John Tarter, Ed Tarter, R.C. Tarter, Lloyd Tarter, Russ Tarter, and Delbert "Rook" Tarter; and sisters, Betty Beasley, Elsie Wilson, Erma Davenport, and Adell Baugh.
Visitation for Mrs. Marcum will be Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. 
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Fudge officiating. 
Internment will follow in Tarter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Gideon Bible Memorials.
