Charlcie Whitaker


Charlcie Marie Pigg Whitaker, 80, of Roswell, Ga., formerly of Eubank, Ky., passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at her residence. She had suffered with Alzheimer's disease for the last eight years of her life.
She is the second child of nine, born to the late Ralph Watson Pigg and Irene Ashley Pigg. She had four bro-thers, Frank Pigg, Ralph Watson Pigg Jr., Robert Pigg and Jimmy Lee Pigg, and one sister, Juanita Pigg Datson, who preceded her in death. 
She has one brother, Doug Pigg of Winchester, Ind., and two sisters, Helen Pigg Davis of Orange Park, Fla. and Lois Pigg Higgins of Greenville, Ohio, to mourn her death.  
Charlcie graduated from Whitesburg High School, Whitesburg, Ky. in 1951 and her and her family moved to Eubank, Ky. in the summer of 1951, where her father served as the policeman in Eubank.
She was born on Feb. 16, 1932 at Seco, Ky. and she married Donald Whitaker of Eubank, Ky. on March 1, 1952. 
They have three children, Karen Sue Whitaker Marcinko of Woodstock, Ga., Ronald Wayne Whitaker of LaFayette, Ga. and Brian Lee Whitaker of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She has been a member of the Church of Christ since she was a teenager. Up until the Alzheimer's disease began to take away her memory, she was very active in church activity. She was a great wife and mother and loved by all. We will miss her, however, we are confident that she has gone to paradise to be with the Lord.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Bialon officiating.
Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery in Waynesburg, Ky.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
