Irene Spoonamore Brown, 83, of Crab Orchard, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
She was the wife of Frank Brown, whom she married on March 20, 1954. Irene was born in Lincoln County on Sept. 3, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Emma (Wren) Spoonamore. Irene had worked as a seamstress for Palm Beach and had formerly worked as a personal caregiver. She was a faithful member of the Providence Church of Christ. Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to many.
Irene is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank Brown of Crab Orchard; son, Curt Brown and special friend, Thelma Phelps of Crab Orchard; granddaughter, Angela and husband David Lewis of London; grandson, Jared Brown of Brodhead; sisters, Ann and husband Danny Irvin of Lancaster, Evelyn and husband Glenn Davis of Stanford,Lillian Spoonamore of Crab Orchard, and Phyllis and husband John French of Shelbyville; brother, Glenn and wife Remonia Spoonamore of Stanford; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Ivy Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by two brothers, Buck and
Ernest Spoonamore; and her sister, Elizabeth Leigh.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at 3 p.m. a the McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny McKibben officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jared Brown, David Lewis, Shirle and Ronnie Brown, Dean Cash, and Wayne Todd.
Honorary pallbearer will be Riley Lewis.
Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at McKnight Funeral Home.
