David Lipscomb

Somerset, Ky — David Ray Lipscomb, 54, of Somerset, Ky., departed this life on Monday, April 19, 2010, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Ky.

He was born on June 17, 1955, in Somerset, the son of Leon McBeth and Shirley Lipscomb. He was a heavy equipment operator for 28 years with the Kentucky State Highway Department. Mr. Lipscomb was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Somerset and enjoyed church. He also enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing, car racing, and his family and friends.

Mr. Lipscomb is survived by his wife, Roberta Johnson Lipscomb, whom he married on June 10, 1991, in Jamestown, Tenn.; a son, Bradley (and Krystal) Brown of Eubank, Ky.; three daughters, Rolisa Jones, Uriah Newell, and Melissa Jones, all of Somerset; two brothers, Curtis (and Lisa) Greshaw of Somerset and Tim Lipscomb of Somerset; a sister, Sharlene Greshaw of Somerset; seven grandchildren, Brandy Brown, Mikayla Newell, Solomon Currens, Archie Currens, Bella Currens, Zasha Jones, and Alliyah Jones; three brothers-in-law, Steven (and Linda) Newell of Somerset, Frank (and Phyllis) Newby of Russell Springs, Ky., and Stanley (and Marilyn) Johnson of Columbia, Ky.; two sisters-in-law, Karen Kay Newell of Somerset and Katherine Jones of Somerset; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Brian Lipscomb.

Visitation for Mr. Lipscomb will be Friday, April 23, at 6 p.m. at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, then Saturday, April 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Somerset.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Seibert F. Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
