For the past several years, the Somerset Junior Woman’s Club has presented a car seat to the first baby born at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital on Valentine’s Day.
This year’s lucky baby was Christian Saenz Calderon, a bounc-ing 10-pound, 5-ounce baby boy born at 5:01 p.m. Christian is the son of Guadalupe Calderon and Jose Luis Saenz.
While this year’s gift to the new baby was given by the club as usu-al, what actually happened to the car seat this year was very unusual.
The Saenz-Calderon family al-ready had a car seat for their new-born son; however, Ms. Calderon discovered that another new mom in a room just down the hallway didn’t have one. Within minutes, she arranged for the car seat to be given to Ana and Samuel Hernandez for their new son, Ismael, who had been born the day before.
