NMS band members perform at KMEA Concert Band Festival

Northern Middle School Performance Band, under the direction of Scott Sexton, performed at the KMEA Concert Band Festival, held at The Center for Rural Development on March 18-19.

The band performed “Majestica” by Brian Balmages, “I Saw Two Clouds at Morning” by Kevin Mixon and “Engines of Resistance” by Larry Clark on the main stage for three judges.

They then sight-read a piece for a fourth judge.

Northern was the only band in the middle school division to receive straight Distinguished ratings.

The following NMS Band members also received Distinguished ratings at the KMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival, which was held at First Baptist Church in London on April 19: Katherine Stockham, distinguished clarinet solo; Brittany Ferrell, distinguished clarinet solo; Sarah Wiles, distinguished clarinet solo; Jessi Spradlin, distinguished alto saxophone solo; Casey Clark, distinguished snare drum solo; and Brittany Ferrell and Sarah Wiles, distinguished clarinet duet.
