Currently on exhibit at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset through June 3 is the 31st annual National Watercolor Exhibition, “Aqueous USA.”

The Kentucky Watercolor Society (KWS) presents a collec-tion of fine art from painters across the United States. This annual juried exhibition is one of the ways KWS promotes the work of watercolor artists from across the nation.

This year, artists from 30 states submitted work for this presti-gious show.

Twenty paintings have been selected for exhibit at 12 different locations in the state of Kentucky during a one-year period.

“The Center is honored to be selected as one of the 12 Kentucky sites for this wonderful exhibit,” Dianna Winstead, associate direc-tor of arts and culture at The Cen-ter, said. “This is a tremendous opportunity for people of all ages throughout the region to view and enjoy these fine works of art courtesy of KWS.”

Founded in 1977, KWS encour-ages the development of water-based media as fine art form and works to educate the public about the best of watercolor.

The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and for special functions.

For more information on the exhibit, contact The Center at (606) 677-6000.

The Center is located in Somerset on South U.S. 27 at stoplight 15.

Established in 1996 through the vision of U.S. Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers, KY-05, and other leaders, The Center for Rural Development – the Center of Excellence for rural Kentucky and the nation – provides economic and community development programs to residents in a 42-county primary service area of southern and eastern Kentucky, and is home to several statewide and national technology-based programs. For more information on programs available through The Center, visit www.centertech.com.
