KMart retirees hold ‘Celebration of Health’

KMart retirees hosted a “Celebration of Health” cookout June 27.

The event was in honor of Jim Cary, Imogene Cain and Sharon Holt.

Last year all three were in critical condition for an extended time at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

A large group of retirees and families attended the cookout at the home of Lennis and Doris Rice of Somerset.

Plaques were presented to Cary, Cain and Holt and also received oversized cards with lots of photos enclosed of times past at KMart.

Jim and Tracy Cary, along with their three daughters, Elissa, Brooke and Megan, came to Somerset from Michigan in 1979 to open the first KMart anywhere in surrounding counties.

Cain and Holt were in the first group hired for the grand opening.

Food and games were enjoyed by everyone.
