Somerset Surgery Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
Since 1984 Somerset Surgery Center (SSC) has offered the citizens of Pulaski and surrounding counties a choice in where to have their outpatient surgery done.
The SSC teammates state they believe patients will be happy with the care and services provided when they request their surgeon to do their procedure here.
In 2008 SSC relocated to a new 14,000-square-foot state of the art facility dedicated solely to providing outpatient surgery. The medical staff is made up with over 30 surgeons and anesthesiologists who perform surgery in the specialties of dental/oral surgery, ENT, gastroenterology, general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatry and pulmonology.

AAAHC is a not-for-profit organization which closely examines the facility, its policies and procedures and practices. The AAAHC expert surveyors are volunteer physicians, nurses and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory healthcare. The survey is both consultative and educational. The AAAHC accreditation is specifically for organizations that provide diagnostic or medical care such as ambulatory surgery centers, office based surgery centers, group practices, college health centers, dental group practices, military healthcare clinics, community health centers, occupational health centers and managed care organizations. AAAHC serves as an advocate for the provision of high quality healthcare through the development of nationally recognized standards and through its survey and accreditation programs.
Accreditation distinguishes this surgery center from many other outpatient surgical facilities by providing the highest quality of care to its patients and a safe work environment.
Status as an accredited organization means Somerset Surgery Center has met nationally recognized standards for provision of high quality healthcare set by AAAHC. Almost 5,000 ambulatory healthcare organizations across the United States are accredited by AAAHC. Not all outpatient organizations seek accreditation and not all undergoing the on-site survey are granted accreditation. Going through the survey process challenges a facility to find better ways to serve patients and it is a constant reminder to teammates of the responsibility to provide patients with the highest quality of care.
