PC Young Democrats send delegation to YDA convention


LOUISVILLE — LOUISVILLE – The Pulaski County Young Democrats traveled to Louisville this week to represent Kentucky at the Young Democrats of America National Convention.

Halyn Roth, president of the Pulaski County chapter, was a voting delegate to the convention.

“We learned very valuable strategies that we will utilize to turn out the Democratic vote in Pulaski County this fall for Governor Beshear,” said Roth of the workshops held at the convention. “We are fired up and ready to get out there for the Democratic ticket.”

Korey Nicholls, club secretary, said of the convention: “The convention energized scores of young people to take an active role in the civic duty of voting, activism and volunteering for liberal values.”

Speakers at the convention included Gov. Steve Beshear and his running mate, former Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson, as well as Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway, Secretary of State Elaine Walker, State Treasurer Todd Hollenbach, Auditor Crit Luallen, United Mine Workers President Cecil Roberts and former Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper of Pennsylvania.
