Records underline Inabnitt’s troubled history

Somerset —

The man who allegedly shot and killed prominent local defense attorney Mark Stanziano has a long history of run-ins with authorities.
Clinton D. Inabnitt, 40, of Somerset, is currently lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
He was taken into custody immediately after he shot Stanziano, 57, multiple times with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. The shooting happened at around 8 a.m. and occurred just outside Stanziano’s office on West Mt. Vernon Street.
Inabnitt told police he shot Stanziano because “he was mad at (Stanziano) for not helping with a problem and (Stanziano) laughed at him about the problem he had,” according to a citation filed by Somerset Police.
While the problem wasn’t detailed by officials, a review of Inabnitt’s court records reveals a man who struggled with alcohol, and who was arrested on multiple occasions on charges of public intoxication, driving under the influence, and resisting arrest.
In a 2007 arrest citation, filed by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, Inabnitt was arrested on public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and second-degree criminal mischief.
According to the citation, Inabnitt approached two sheriff’s deputies on January 7, 2007 while intoxicated and confronted them. They wrestled Inabnitt to the ground, with the help of a taser, and it was during the arrest Inabnitt allegedly said ... I’ll cut your throats.”
After Inabnitt was placed in the cruiser, he struck the trunk area with his forehead, causing damage to the car.
In another incident, from July 23, 2006, Inabnitt was arrested and charged with public intoxication after a sheriff’s deputy responded to a complaint on Young Street in Somerset. According to the citation, Inabnitt “ ... had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his person.”
Inabnitt, according to the citation, said “ ... every time he drinks it causes him trouble.”
Inabnitt was arrested on March 20, 2009 at his residence, located just across Mt. Vernon Street from Stanziano’s office, and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Inabnitt, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated when the officer arrived, yelled a number of obscenities from his window toward the nearby sheriff’s department. The officer “ ... then went into his apartment and advised him that he was under arrest. He then started backing up and would not turn around.”
The officer then took Inabnitt down forcefully and arrested him.
Inabnitt’s court records include another misdemeanor arrest in 2006, and an additional misdemeanor arrest in 2007. He was arrested for driving under the influence in 2004 and 2005, and he attended a substance abuse program through Adanta in 2005, according to court records.
