Man arrested for attempted murder

Shots fired on North Ky. 1247 Thursday

Somerset —

A Somerset man was arrested on two counts of attempted murder following a Thursday shooting incident in northern Pulaski County.
Anthony Merrick, of North Ky. 1247 was taken into custody in Lexington after being taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
According to information released Friday by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, at 10:30 a.m., units responded to Merrick’s address at 4124 North Ky. 1247. There, they found Merrick, 50, lying in the driveway of the residence.
The investigation revealed that Merrick had gotten into a confrontation with his parents inside their residence. Merrick, who was armed with a rifle,. threatened to kill his parents and several shot were fired, according to the sheriff’s office.
A struggle ensued in which Merrick was disarmed, according to the sheriff’s office. The parents left the home and called for help. Merrick allegedly pursued them out of the house, continuing to make threats, at which time he was taken to the ground where he was found with responders arrived.
Merrick was treated at the scene by EMS and later flown to UK for self-sustained injuries that occurred prior to the confrontation.
