Charlotte Davis, 69, was injured when her vehicle was hit by a train on June 3. She died at a Lexington hospital on Friday. Her funeral was held yesterday.

A Ferguson woman succumbed on Friday to injuries sustained when her vehicle was struck by a train near Burnside nearly a month earlier.
Charlotte Davis, 69, had been in critical condition at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington since the early morning June 3 accident at the Kelly Crossing on Richardson Lane off old South Ky. 1247.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office reported that Davis died at 5:19 p.m. July 1 in Lexington.
Davis had been traveling west on Richardson Lane in a Plymouth Neon when she entered the railroad crossing and came into the path of a southbound Norfolk Southern freight train.
The force of the impact caused Davis’ vehicle to travel over an embankment and land on its top.
Local authorities say Davis had lived on the road near the railroad tracks for years.
When emergency personnel arrived, Davis was lying outside her vehicle. It was unclear whether she had been ejected from the vehicle or if she crawled out.
Davis, a longtime employee of Jerry’s Restaurant, attended First Baptist Church. She was the mother of 13 and grandmother of 21.
Her funeral was held yesterday at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
