A Pulaski County man was arrested Wednesday after authorities responded to a shoplifting report at a local Dollar general Store.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, Steven W. Loveless, 38, of 110 Tully Lane, Somerset, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies after they encountered the suspects car, a 1994 Chevrolet, westbound on East Ky. 80 after the shoplifting report was filed at the Dollar General store located on South U.S. 27.

The suspect in the vehicle, later identified as Loveless, left Ky. 80 and exited the vehicle while on Hail Street. He was soon found by the deputies and the reported stolen item, a cell phone, was found in a weeded area close to the abandoned vehicle.

Further investigation also revealed a pill bottle containing pills near the phone, and deputies discovered that Loveless had thrown the phone and the pills into the weeds in an attempt to conceal them from authorities.

Loveless was also found to have an outstanding warrant of arrest on him and he was also found to be operating a vehicle on a suspended license.

Loveless was charged with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of tampering with physical evidence, driving on a DUI-suspended license and failure to appear in Pulaski District Court.

Loveless was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
