The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department made an arrest on bootlegging charges after an investigation by the department’s Narcotics Unit.

Walter E. Thompson, 59, of Friendship Church Road in northern Pulaski County, was arrested following an investigation brought about by citizens’ complaints regarding the illegal sale of alcohol in that community. A search of Thompson’s garage found more than 29 12-packs of beer and several bottles of liquor, according to Sheriff’s reports.

Thompson was charged with illegal sale of alcoholic beverages in a dry territory, first-offense, a Class B misdemeanor. He was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Additionally, a Somerset woman was arrested Friday on a Pulaski Circuit Court Warrant of Arrest on indictment.

Sharon Mullins Williams, 45, of Poplarville Road, Somerset, was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash or property bond.
