Science Hill man faces kidnapping, rape charges

Gerald A. Hendricks

A Science Hill man has pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and rape charges in connection to an incident alleged to have occurred last April.

Gerald Avalon Hendricks, 53, was arrested around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night on a warrant charging with with two counts of Kidnapping (Adult) and one count of first-degree Rape.

The charges stem from an incident alleged to have occurred on April 24. According to a complaint filed by Sergeant John Hutchinson of the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, Hendricks was at a residence on Cave Hill Road when an individual who lived there allegedly told him to kill two women who were also at the residence.

Allegedly armed with a sawed-off shotgun and pistol, Hendricks walked the victims to his vehicle and drove them to Rock Lick Creek Road. The complaint states that he then made one remove all her clothing to check her and her property for a "wire." This woman was then allowed to leave the scene on foot -- walking down the road.

Hendricks is then alleged to have driven the other woman to his home on Shady Grove Church Road, where he forced her to have sexual intercourse, according to the complaint.

Hendricks was arraigned in Pulaski District Court on Friday and is next scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday. At press time, he remains lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center in lieu of a $250,000 cash bond.
