A total of five patients were sent to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital to be checked for injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision on West Ky. 80 Tuesday afternoon.
According to Somerset Police, the accident occurred at approximately 1:38 p.m. near the Fishing Creek Bridge.
Once on scene, Ofc. Chris Gates determined that a 2006 Mazda 6 operated by Christy Dick, 18, of Stanford, Kentucky, was turning left from westbound Ky. 80, when it turned directly in front of an eastbound 2012 Chevrolet Impala operated by Sherri Phillips, 38, of Bronston.
As the Mazda turned, it was struck in the right side by the Chevrolet. Phillips was cited to court for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended or revoked operator's license. Phillips and her three passengers were transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for possible injuries. A juvenile passenger in the Mazda was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional as well for possible injuries.
SPD was assisted at the scene by Somerset-Pulaski EMS and Somerset Fire Department.
