Former Pulaski County High School star and current Western Kentucky University golfer Lauren Scholl finished second in the amateur division of the Fifth Third Bank Women’s Kentucky Open last week. The tournament was played on Wednesday, July 18, and Thursday, July 19, at the Polo Fields Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.
Scholl shot 1-under par on the final day to move up five places in the rankings and recorded the lowest amateur score of the day.
Scholl shot a 75 the first day for a two-day total of 146. Laura Anderson, University of Louisville, was the top amateur with a score of 144.
This event featured most of the best players in Kentucky with professionals competing for prize money. Whitney Wade won the professional event. Including the professionals, Scholl finished sixth overall.
Scholl will be a junior this fall at WKU and will will be a member of the Lady Topper’s golf squad. Scholl is majoring in elementary education.
